October 5th Monthly Meeting & Happy Hour 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM @ Clubhouse 2 Registration deadline: Friday, October 2 Please note the new start time of 4:30 p.m. Prost! Our next general meeting will be a German Octoberfest Potluck! We’ll be serving grilled Bratwursts complemented by the potluck side dish you bring, such as salad, coleslaw, sauerkraut, vegetables, potatoes or potato salad, cheese & crackers and of course desserts! As always, we’ll enjoy the Yacht Club’s complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks — this will be a feast you won’t want to miss! Both Member & Guest Registration is required with a deadline of Friday, October 2nd. Immediately after dinner we’ll enjoy a very special presentation about the history and founding of one of our Clubs favorite destinations: Avalon, Catalina!
HISTORY OF AVALON John Marshall, Staff Commodore of Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA), will present an interesting and entertaining "History of Avalon.” He starts 7,000 years ago (!) and quickly moves up to present day, showcasing the various personalities whose lives make up the rich history of the island town of Avalon. The presentation features many historical photographs of Avalon and the people that helped to shape one of the favorite destinations for mariners. John has been the featured speaker at meetings of SCYA, Alamitos Bay, Long Beach, San Diego, Balboa and Cabrillo Beach Yacht Clubs. This is a presentation not to be missed!
