JOIN THE CLUB

Laguna Woods Yacht Club welcomes new members to join our socially oriented nautical club. Whether you are a current, former, or armchair sailor, wanting to learn, you are welcome here.

You don't need to own a boat, nor do you need prior sailing experience to join. 

The Laguna Woods Yacht Club owns a sailing vessel, the Hiatus. She is a fiberglass sloop, Catalina 30, berthed at Dana Point Harbor Marina, Dock 22 Slip 26. Technical specifications are available here.

Members may participate in day sailing at no charge, subject to availability. Annual membership fees and club fundraising activities cover the full cost of berthing and maintaining our boat. The boat undergoes regular routine and preventive maintenance and is fully covered by standard Marine Insurance.

The Club has a procedure for qualifying duly experienced members to skipper the Hiatus. Only skippers are eligible to assume the responsibility of taking the vessel on a sail. Club members in good standing and who have signed an insurance liability waiver may sail aboard her.

In addition to sails almost every day, we also offer sailing courses at all levels, beginner through advanced.  We also have monthly meeting with interesting programs and time to mix socially with fellow club members.  Non-members may attend a monthly meeting to check things out. The guest fee is $10.00.  We meet the first Monday of the month at 4:30 PM, in Clubhouse 2.

Membership in the club is capped at 125 and is currently full. You are most welcome to apply for the wait list of LWYC by clicking here: Waitlist Application.  During the application process you will be asked to read and agree to the Insurance Waiver Release Form and the Code of Conduct as a condition of membership.

Dues:  The annual membership dues are $225, payable when the applicant is approved. Dues are paid annually, in advance of your membership anniversary date, and are not refundable. Memberships are individual and not family or household. Each members is entitled to participate in club activities, including meetings, parties, and day sails (subject to availability).
